There are 4 000 cases of domestic violence annually in our country, and the crisis centers in Bulgaria are only 18. In the town of Ignatievo was opened the second in the Varna district crisis center for accommodation of women and children victims of domestic violence. It has a capacity of eight seats and will accept victims of violence from across the country. The project was funded by nearly 300,000 euros from the Norwegian Financial Mechanism. The project manager Neli Petrova explained:

There is a crisis center in Varna. Our motivation in the development of the project proposal was precisely that for such a big city as Varna and given the statistics that every fourth woman is a victim of domestic violence, the crisis centers are extremely inadequate. The center we are creating will not only be for users of the municipality or of the Varna district. This is for the citizens of the whole country and for this reason we will apply for state-delegated activity.
